First Aid Annual Skills Update

Southampton - British Red Cross Centre 3.5 hours 1/2 Day AM or PM £68.00 pp £81.60 inc. VAT

This half-day course is suitable for people aged 16+ who wish to follow the Health and Safety Executive’s (HSE) recommendation that first aiders have annual refresher training to maintain their skills and keep up to date with any changes which may happen between completing a first aid at work course and requalifying three years later.

It is designed for anyone who wishes to refresh their existing first aid at work training. The HSE strongly recommends that all first aiders holding a valid first aid at work or emergency first aid at work certificate complete an annual skills update.

  • unresponsive and breathing
  • choking

  • in shock
  • burnt
  • having a seizure.

This course is not certified. It is designed to keep your existing first aid at work or emergency first aid at work skills and confidence refreshed.

Ability level:

  • Delegates must be physically able to provide colleagues with first aid, e.g. able to kneel on the floor and administer cardio pulmonary resuscitation, in line with the Health & Safety Executive’s (HSE) Approved Code of Practice.
  • Learners must be physically able to carry out the practical elements of the course and attend all sessions to be eligible for assessment.

Off site training has proven useful for us, I would say it is on par with other companies I have used in the past as the training is very similar. I am 100% happy with the level of customer service provided and the amount of information was very good as well as it being very well organised.

We have only used yourselves and are happy with what we have received. The service we receive is excellent and we would recommend to other companies. There is nothing I would change about the service as we are very happy, you are our chosen first aid course provider.

The course itself was a really interactive, informative and fun course to attend. The trainer was knowledgeable and imparted this knowledge in a fun way (as fun as it can be!) This makes it ‘stick’ more I find. We really enjoyed the course.

I want to commend our trainer, Gemma, on a fabulously paced, informative and engaging course day. Evidently the material provided from Hello First Aid was well structured already, but Gemma brought this content to life. She never rushed, and allowed plenty of time for questions, while keeping speed to make sure we were still absorbed in the course.
Gemma was a joy to learn from, very bubbly, but also gave me confidence in the techniques and information I was learning. I now feel confident to perform Emergency First Aid where other courses I have attended have left me feeling uncertain and doubting my abilities, despite passing the course. Thank you to Gemma!

I really enjoyed doing the First Aid Course at the centre, the tutor was great and always answered any questions we had, good practical acting scenarios took place which helped us to think better of how we would react to an emergency in real life. Great info and left confident to be a first aider in any situations that I might be faced with.

I attended the First Aid Training course with Hello First Aid earlier this year. I enjoyed the day. It was interactive, taught with humour and sensitivity and there was lots of hands-on practice of the key skills required to deal with a life-threatening emergency. I would definitely recommend it to anyone looking for a training programme that will give you confidence to deal with whatever situation you might come across at work or in life.
